Tough, cynical, a little funny, and romantic enough that he wouldn't turn off the ladies. Superman.

2. Gotta go with Michael on this one. Diana Rigg as Tracy. Rigg has always played classy, smart, beautiful. She's somehow managed to get better with age.

3. Sean Bean as 003 or whatever he was. I just like the idea of Bond and his doppelganger duking it out.

4. Okay, sue me, but The Spy Who Loved Me. It was the FIRST time I was able to sit through a Bond movie without yawning or going for more popcorn. Loved the song, the opening sequence. Barbara Bach is second only to Diana Rigg as my favorite Bond girl.

I know they're supposed to be action oriented movies but when they take themselves too seriously, I just raise my 'brows and go, 'oh, please!' A lot of fans didn't like Roger Moore, but I liked the laughs in his series. I love Connery in everything BUT the Bond movies. Smartest move he ever made was breaking off that film relationship.

Yeah, I know. I'm in the minority. I'll expound on some of my choices from a post from last year:

1. Sean Connery - yes, he was the first, but he had such a physicality in the role (whether it was in the bedroom or in a fight); plus, he played the role with a cold streak that was perfect for it: e.g., his without pity dispatch of Prof. Dent in Dr. No.

2. Tracy Di Vicenzo - Diana Rigg played this character with such class and smarts; a close second is Honor Blackman's Pussy Galore (Sean's expression upon hearing her name for the first time is just classic). Although, Eva Green's Vesper has a lot going for her (and Kingdom of Heaven is also one of my all-time favs).

3. Blofeld - but I'll qualify that to the earlier Bond films when he was just a torso with the cat (your points are well taken); the later versions in Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and Diamonds Are Forever kept using different actors for the part! Second fav, Auric Goldfinger.

4. Goldfinger - the first Bond I ever saw, but it seemed to the set the standard/archtype for series with its villain, henchman, movie song, and Bond girl (with the unforgettable name); but From Russia with Love is a close second ;-)

Thanks, cousin.le0pard13https://www.blogger.com/profile/09421175808461787862noreply@blogger.com
